Easter Celebrations at Liberty UMC 2025

Anna’s 100 – Watch for those blankets!

In honor of our own Anna E., who celebrated her 101st birthday on October 4th, 2024, 112 blankets were collected for Sleep in Heavenly Peace!

The 2025 blanket drive goal will be 102 blankets. Watch for those thrift treasures in twin, full and even queen.

Operation Shoebox

Watch for the “Christmas in July” packing party again this year!

Watch for updates on our 2025 efforts to reach the annual 100 box goal and on the new opportunity to donate boxes on-line.

Have you found some items for shoeboxes but don’t have much room at home to store them? We have a Shoebox “Store” in the nursery. Many items already have bins and there is room to store more!

There have been some updates – we are no longer allowed to include soap (even unopened) and items with any scent, like scented markers or crayons, etc., and medicated items, like lip balms, continue to be prohibited.

Greek for a Day!

Sunday, October 13, 2024 the Liberty Youth Study attended worship the Greek Orthodox service at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Phoenix with some great food and good fun after at the 63rd Annual Greek Festival.

We learned a bit about the Cathedral, dedicated in 1973, ate some good Greek food and watched some of the church children and youth participate in traditional Greek dancing.

Update: Thank you to everyone who stayed for Greek food during the Fellowship on Sunday, Nov. 10th. The menu of Spanakopita, Dolmades, Greek Salad, Pita Bread with Hummus and a variety of Baklava and Greek cookies was well received.

Thank you also to Linda Bell for the Peppermint Bark, a wonderful treat for our own Zachary G. who had to forego the other desserts due to his nut allergy!

Serving Line:

Ann B. – Spanakopita & Dolmades

Xavier G. – Greek Salad

Rachael S. – Bread and Hummus

Kathryn E. – Desserts
