Heidi Adkinson, Friend of Liberty United Methodist Church, passed away on April 28, 2023.

Heidi was born December 7, 1939 in the Bavarian region of Germany. After WWII Heidi fell in love and married a young American service man, Phillip R. Adkinson, (Maj, USArmy). She moved to the United States with her husband and two sons before she was fluent in English, honing her language skills by watching soap operas!

After Phillip passed away in February of 2016, Heidi’s family rallied around her, helping her learn to do some of the things that her loving spouse had always taken care of. When learning to put gas in her car Heidi accidentally sprayed her ‘teachers’ with gas when she forgot to release the pump trigger before removing the fuel nozzle from the car!

In keeping with her indomitable spirit, Heidi decided to make a new friend, someone close to her home. She introduced herself to a nearby neighbor, Anna Eckleberry and the rest is history. Fast friends for more than a decade, Anna and Heidi were often visited by many in the congregation as they were most often in their favorite pew, nearest the door.

Heidi’s instruction to her son, Ron, was to be sure she was laid to rest with her husband. The family, son Ron, granddaughter Jenna, her husband Stiles and their children Blair and Andrew were present during the commitment service at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Cave Creek (Section 55 Site 2433) on Monday, May 15, 2023.
